Personal Background: Born in 1979 in New Zealand, Henry Hargreaves is a Brooklynn based food photographer and artist. He took photography in highschool then attended Canterbury University and earned a degree in American studies and film studies. When he was working in fashion in the early 2000s, he figured out that he wanted to be the one behind the camera and taking photos. Since then, he’s worked for Ralph Lauren, National geographic, and the New York Times. Hargreaves also holds the largest collection of coffee cups in the world.
Name of Artist: Henry Hargreaves
Dates of Artist’s Life: 1979- present
Style: His style is very simply put: he creates visuals that appeal to them. In this way, his style is contemporary and eclectic. If an idea or concept keeps coming back to him, he’ll feel the need to recreate it. His inspiration comes from anywhere, specifically from ideas that make him laugh. Hargreaves takes lighting techniques and tricks that he learned from his time as a model and implements them into his work.
Philosophy: In his food photography, Hargreaves challenges the idea that children should not play with their food. Instead, he believes that playing with your food can be part of the fun.
Influences: I was intrigued by the way Hargreaves lays every little piece out in his work. I also like the way that he makes his pieces very colorful. His artwork is very eccentric and eclectic.

Emulated Image
I opted to do the sphere technique for my artist emulated image because Hargreaves' works are very dfficult to replicate. They often involve a lot of objects and a lot ofstrategic placing of said objects. I chose this image to replicate because I think this plant is very cool, especially with the amount of different plants in it. This project was very fun to do.
